Goal: To select and research and industry and career in Canada and to develop a clear and concise campaign for candidacy for the selected career.  The total QUESTION should be approximately 5 pages in length.

 1. Career Path and Industry Research (20 marks):

Reflecting on your strengths, interests, and goals, select a Canadian Industry to research. In the process of your research, you should identify the size of the industry and 5 different employers in the industry with the noted basic information below. Next you will profile one of the employers including research company website and interviewing/emailing/messaging with an employee of the organization.

  1. Identify an Industry and provide a short summary of the Industry in Canada. Include all relevant references.  Information such as size of the industry description of the industry and location of the major players in the industry should be included.
  2. List 5 employers in the industry. This must include the address of the head office, the number of employees, the corporate website, and the hiring contacts for each. (HINT: Pick up the phone and call the employers to locate manes of hiring managers and/or use Linked In to support your research and connect with the contacts you locate).
  3. Complete a one-page profile summary for one of the Employers. This should include cultural information about the workplace. Hiring practices, current job opportunities/openings, and any other relevant information you can locate in your search. Please provide reference information for how you obtained the information (email exchanges with hiring team, phone interview transcript, Linkned In Messages etc)
  4. Make it Personal – In less than 100 words make a concise but detailed review of why you are drawn to this industry and specifically to the employer you chose to profile. How does the company/position you are interested in connect to your Professional Strengths or interests?

 

2. Design a Campaign for Candidacy (20 marks):

a. What will be the main goal of your Campaign? In few sentences or less, state your goal. Be specific. (5 marks):
