They are so alike it is confusing, yet it seems that omni-channel is more synchronous with its communication with the prospective consumers (focuses on the customer), whereas multichannel has the means to use the same modes of communications but is limited to just a few modes of communication (focuses on the brand).

Traditional marketing approach does work in the omni-channel world, they just utilize the channels of communications simultaneously or it is updated immediately across all channels.  Companies need to ensure they have multiple means of communicating with their customers and most importantly all communications should be up to date. If a customer purchased items from the company in the store, and they later log onto the app or online, they should be able to see the items purchased instore if they needed to go back and refer to it or wanted to buy item again. This creates additional sales for the company if the consumer doesn’t remember the name of a product, they enjoyed which was recommended in store.

As a consumer who visits multiple social media sites, I feel that the marketing has extended to omni-channel marketing since there seems to be a connection that follows me around. I log onto Facebook and as I screen through the posts, I see a couple of advertisements that I suppose are geared towards me because either I performed a search or maybe I was discussing a certain type of product. Then, hours later, I may log into Instagram, and I see the same advertisement for the same product. OK, I figure Facebook and Instagram are both associated with each other. I log into my e.mail to read any new emails. Low, and behold, I see the same advertisement in my e.mail section. I can’t forget to mention that I also receive chats from some of these companies (they are more than likely autoboot messages) to engage with me. I can see how utilizing the Omni-Channel marketing format works, because it creates brand recognition once you’ve viewed it a multitude of times through multiple channels (Kaushik, A. 2023). When you are already a consumer of the company and you receive emails, text messages and notifications if you also have the app, you have real-time updates on your account. For example, I can place a Dunkin’ Donuts mobile order through the app on my phone and must add funds to complete the order. Once I arrive at the location to pick up my order. If I forgot to purchase something or it looks good on their display, I can also walk up to the register and purchase said item via my app using part or all the funds that I added when placing the original mobile order. I will also get an email advising me that I added funds as soon as it hits my account.
