Purpose: To describe how to work autonomously, how to maintain a sense of calm and confidence, and how to handle workplace ethics.

 

Task: I am to respond to the task below utilizing everything I have learned in this section.

 

Background:  I am  providing administrative assistance for a tech company who is the biggest sponsor of the New Tech International Conference.  This year, the conference is being held in my city and ive have been asked to be the Chair of the Planning Committee.

I have experience planning small-scale events, but nothing to this scale. Although  I am  highly skilled, there are some elements of the project that I need to develop your knowledge. I  have been given the assignment in collaboration with another professional, the co-chair, whose skills and experience complement my own.

 

As  the co-ch and i air continue to work on the planning, some conflicts begin to arise. First, during our weekly check-in meetings, my co-chair seems to challenge all of your ideas. It is making me feel unqualified for this task and my are getting very frustrated with the constant criticism.

 

Second, I am  little concerned with the spending of my co-chair. Some charges on the credit card do not seem appropriate for the event. Some of these include gift cards to restaurants, a $300 bottle of Scotch, and a laptop computer. It is possible that these could be prizes for the silent auction, but you didn’t discuss these items so you are little suspicious.

 

I’m supposed to  make myself an action plan of how  I will approach the following issues:

  • confidence , how I will build and maintain my confidence  as a valued member and leader of this team.                       
  • How I will stay calm, and keep My composure in meetings where
    I  feel unfairly criticized.  What strategies and steps will i impliment from the material from this course up to this point.
  • How I will deal with the ethics concern II have with my  co-chair
  • How these decisions and strategies demonstrate autonomy at the
    workplace.
