Objective of this Assignment: Implement an integrated online traffic strategy using multiple traffic sources.

Pre-Assignment Instructions:

  1. To prepare for this assignment, read the Module 5 content and follow the embedded learning activities.

Assignment Tasks: 

  1. Congratulations – the local company that you analyzed in Assignment 3 liked your recommendations and want you to create an integrated online traffic strategy to advance their company.
  2. Using the 3 digital marketing strategy recommendations that you provided, create an online traffic strategy for the company to integrate search engine optimization, social media marketing, and search engine marketing to advance their digital marketing initiatives.
  3. For the search engine optimization component, there are 2 steps:
    • Step 1: Using the keyword research tools and techniques provided in the module, identify 3 keywords that the company should be using.
    • Step 2: Create a table to check if the home page of their website is correctly implementing those keywords using the best practices that we covered (and note where the keyword is missing):
      1. Title Tag: Include your keyword in your title tag (the text that’s displayed in your browser heading).
      2. Page URL: Make sure your URL includes your keyword or key phrase as close to the beginning of the URL as possible. Remember, use hyphens – not spaces or underscores.
      3. Image ALT Tags: Include keywords in your image ALT tags so that search engines understand what the image is displaying.
      4. Image File Name: Similar to your image ALT tag, you should also include your keywords, as close to the beginning of your page content as possible.
      5. Meta Description: Include keywords in your meta description (the descriptive sentence that search engines pull from their search engine results pages).

  4. For the social media marketing component, there are 2 steps:
    • Step 1: Select one social media platform that the company is using that you recommend advertising their product/service on.
    • Step 2: Identify 3 formats you would choose to create a 7-day ad campaign (i.e. text ads, video ads, image carousels, etc.). Briefly explain why you chose the formats.
    • If the company is not on social media, make a recommendation and explain which channel they should use and 3 formats they should use to improve their digital marketing.
  5. For the search engine marketing component, create a mini search advertising campaign incorporating the first 3 steps from Google Ads:
    • Step 1: Research and select an ad platform (Google or Bing) that the company should advertise on.
    • Step 2: Recommend one campaign goal (i.e. get more calls to the business, increase visits to your company, drive people to their website) that aligns with your SWOT recommendations.
    • Step 3: Decide where to advertise (i.e. local community – Toronto, provincial – Ontario, or national-wide).
    • Step 4: Create 2 text ad headlines that are no more than 30 characters each and 2 text ad descriptions that are no more than 90 characters each that convey what’s best about the business.
