In addition to writing grants and papers, as scientists you will be expected to contribute to the scientific community by reviewing proposals and papers. Each review draft will be reviewed by both me and one of your fellow students. Each student will be given a codename to maintain anonymity of authors and reviewers. Your review draft will be identified only by your code name; Do not put your name on the review!
Reviews will include the following:
1) a one paragraph summary of the paper, including clear identification of its strengths and weaknesses
2) a list of major comments and suggestions, including identification of the specific strongest parts, conceptual weakness, errors and any other big issue (referenced by line number)
3) a list of minor comments. This includes small errors, confusing statements, typos and grammar corrections
4) the reviewer’s recommendation with specific suggestions to the author for revising the paper.
