In senior diabetic patients (P), does the effectiveness of telemedicine (I), compared to traditional visits (C), decrease the concomitant effects of type 2 diabetes through adequate monitoring of the syndrome from home (O) over six months (T)

QUESTION

The first step of the evidence-based practice process is to evaluate a nursing practice environment to identify a nursing problem in the clinical area. When a nursing problem is discovered, the nurse researcher develops a clinical guiding question to address that nursing practice problem.

For this assignment,  give a clinical guiding question called a PICOT question. The PICOT question

must be relevant to a nursing practice problem.

Use the “Literature Evaluation Table” for this assignment. Prior to starting the “Literature Evaluation

Table” concludes the following:

1. Select a nursing practice problem of interest to use as the focus of your research. Start with the patient population and identify a clinical problem or issue that arises from the patient population.

2. Following the PICOT format, Give a PICOT question in your selected area of interest ( In senior diabetic patients (P), the effectiveness of telemedicine (I), compared to traditional visits ©, will decrease the concomitant effects of type 2 diabetes through adequate monitoring of the syndrome from home (O) over six months(T). The PICOT question

should apply to your proposed capstone project (the project students must complete during their

final course in the RN-BSN program of study).

3. Conduct a literature search to locate six research articles focused on your selected nursing practice problem

of interest(Type 2 Diabetes in Seniors). Note: This literature search should include three quantitative and three qualitative peer-reviewed research articles to support your nursing practice problem. A mixed methods article can qualify for meeting a qualitative or quantitative methodology.

Articles must be published within the last 5 years, appropriate for the assignment criteria, and relevant to nursing practice.

The PICOT question and six peer-reviewed research articles you choose will be utilized for subsequent assignments. The PICOT question will also provide a framework for your capstone project.

Note: To assist in your search, remove the words qualitative and quantitative and include words that narrow or broaden your main topic. For example, Search for diabetes and pediatric and dialysis. To determine what research design was used in the articles the search produced, review the abstract and the methods section of the article. The author will describe data collection using qualitative or quantitative methods.

Systematic reviews, literature reviews, and metanalysis articles are good resources and provide a strong level of evidence but are not considered primary research articles. Therefore, they should not be included in this assignment. Solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar

with the expectations for success.

In this literature evaluation table, I have compiled six research articles related to the clinical issue of Type 2 Diabetes in senior patients. Each article is relevant to the PICOT question, and I have identified whether it is a quantitative or qualitative study. The purpose statements and research questions of each article have been summarized, along with the main outcomes and key findings. Additionally, I have mentioned the sample size, setting, and research methods used in each study. Lastly, I have discussed any recommendations or implications provided by the researchers.

Using this literature evaluation table, I will be able to critically analyze the evidence from each article and draw conclusions that will inform my capstone project on improving the care of senior diabetic patients through the use of telemedicine. By reviewing the various studies, I will be able to determine the effectiveness of telemedicine compared to traditional visits in managing Type 2 Diabetes in seniors, which will guide my nursing practice and contribute to evidence-based care for this patient population.
