and develop a way forward (this could involve setting up a committee, setting up decision-making
processes or arranging a public voting arrangement/representatives etc)
▪ Establishing common goals and coordinating a cooperative group process
▪ Identifying the talents, strengths, abilities and assets of the community and individuals; and
establishing mechanisms and actions to address these strengths
▪ Showing respect and a commitment to assist them by organising a range of opportunities to facilitate
community participation in addressing the concern
▪ Proactively providing appropriate referrals
▪ Identifying and addressing barriers to moving these private concerns into public action.
Note: It will be at the beginning of this stage in the project you can arrange for your assessor to come out
and observe your participation in the facilitation of a group meeting where you will be involved in ensuring
that individual and groups stories are heard and responded to. Ensure you read the requirements of
Assessment Task 3 before conducting this.
You need to support at least three different activities to facilitate community participation and skills
development. The first activity will be the group meeting which forms the basis of the observation for
Assessment Task 3; the other two could include:

▪ support meetings

▪ service delivery
▪ programs
▪ focus groups
▪ any other suitable activity you identify.
