The annotated bibliography is a major course assignment requiring academic research on one narrow and specific psychological topic, of your choice. You may choose any psychological that you would like to learn more about through research. Make sure that you have 5 peer-reviewed references related to one specific psychological phenomenon (therefore 5 summaries).
When writing your annotated bibliography consider the following:
1. What is the purpose of the article? The hypothesis or the testable prediction.
2. What is the most important information used to support the arguments (assertions)? This would be found in the results of the study. Just give the basic findings in your own words.
Do not worry if you do not understand the stats or design, your job is to come up with the “gist” of the findings.
3. What is the conclusion? In other words, was the hypothesis supported or not?
4. What are the logical implications of the results of the study? This is sometimes called the “significance” of the study
Your grade will be based on these criteria:
Research: Use of five peered-reviewed journal articles on one psychological topic (NOT websites, newspapers, blogs, books, or magazines)
Annotations: Concise annotations summarize and EVALUATE the articles. Proper grammar and spelling Each annotation is 75-100 words.
Citations: Proper APA format for reference citations. Proper use of hanging indentation, italics, capitalization, and punctuation. Do not include database information (Ebsco, PsychInfo, etc.)
Format: Your name and your research topic at top of page 1. The entire document is double spaced, in 12 point TNR font, citations are listed in alphabetical order by author last name, each citation followed by its annotation. No bullets or numbering added.
