While this may be a form a passive concept, I would want this to emphasize that I truly care about the nurses on the floor and want them to be the best version of themselves. It is my thought process that this would also foster a supportive work environment that utilizes teamwork and relies on open communication. I would also be a big advocate for self-care and promoting a genuine work-life balance. Creating a work-life balance that works for each individual and time management is crucial to reducing burnout for nurses (Yoder-Wise, 2018). While at work, I would keep an eye on patient to staff ratios while ensuring workload is appropriate for each individual and do my best to minimize any staffing issues that may arise. If the floor is commonly understaffed, I would address my concerns to my superiors in attempts to get it remediated. Finally, I would keep an eye on every nurse on the floor and do my best to monitor them for signs of burnout, and while doing so make it a point to publicly address this every now and then in order to not single anyone out to remind them that it is indeed real, serious, and that there are resources to assist with preventing and fixing burnout.
