I think my work does a good job at creating a culture that supports quality improvement. I currently work as a field RN for a pediatric home health care company here in Lubbock, TX. I would describe the nursing department as professional, respectful, and collaborative. As a nurse, I have worked in several places that had toxic and negative work environments, but this is certainly not the case now. The department is very effective, and cares deeply about the work we do with children in our community. This is evident because we have an excellent track record with our clinical audits. Our department is not perfect, but it is better than most. Something we could improve on is increasing employee retention. In terms of quality improvement, the therapy and nursing notes get audited daily by our supervisors and we get feedback and make changes if needed. When we get feedback, it always comes from a good place that is meant to improve us, fosters growth, and keeps us compliant regulatory bodies.
