Mountains, Hills, and Terai (Plains) are Nepal’s three north-to-south areas, together with seven provinces. To accurately reflect the three geographical regions of the nation, two rural sites from Province 1 and Lumbini Provinces, as well as one urban site from Bagmati Province (which covers the Kathmandu Valley), were chosen. With 2.5 million people living in the Kathmandu Valley, the Hills region is home to roughly 46% of the population. In Bagmati Province, there were more respondents with university or professional education than in Lumbini or Province 1, and there were more respondents in Bagmati Province than in the two rural sites. Compared to Lumbini and Province 1, Bagmati Province had more respondents who claimed being employed full-time, whereas Lumbini had more respondents who were jobless or retired. Compared to respondents in Lumbini and Province 1, Bagmati respondents reported higher monthly household income.
