QUESTION

Preparing the assignment

There are three parts to this assignment. Speak with your faculty member if you have questions.

1. Letter for Graduation

a. Write a letter to yourself on your graduation day.

b. Consider the following questions as you compose your letter.

i. How do you hope you have changed in terms of knowledge and skills, and personally?

ii. What would you like to remind yourself about your inspiration for choosing this career?

iii. You will be preparing to take the NCLEX exam and to start your first job as a baccalaureate-prepared nurse. Are there any words of encouragement that you would like to tell your future self?

iv. Are there any words of caution you want to tell yourself—pitfalls to avoid?

v. What kind of nurse do you hope you have become? What further growth and change do you envision for yourself?

c. Submit this letter with this assignment. We will make sure it is returned to you when you have completed your academic work at Chamberlain and are ready to receive your baccalaureate degree in nursing.

2. Inspiration

a. In addition to the letter, submit one page that you create that represents your inspiration for becoming a nurse. It may be a picture, a collage, a series of quotes, etc. Choose words and images that are meaningful to you. This should be a picture that you can post somewhere, perhaps where you study, in order to motivate yourself as you move forward on your journey to become a nurse.

3. Reflections Presentation

a. In addition to the letter and one page inspiration, prepare a 500-650-word informal paper that discusses the following topics:

i. What does your inspiration mean?

ii. Name one concept that challenged you during this course.

iii. What has been the greatest lesson you have learned?

iv. How will what you have learned help you be successful at Chamberlain?

ANSWER

Letter for Graduation

Dear Future Self,

As I write this letter on my graduation day, I am overwhelmed with a sense of pride and accomplishment. The journey to becoming a baccalaureate-prepared nurse has been challenging, but it has transformed me in ways I could never have imagined.

Looking back, I hope I have changed not only in terms of knowledge and skills but also personally. I have gained a deeper understanding of the nursing profession and the critical role it plays in healthcare. My knowledge has expanded to encompass a wide range of subjects, from anatomy and pharmacology to patient-centered care and evidence-based practice. I have acquired the clinical skills necessary to provide safe and effective care to patients, and I have learned the importance of collaboration and communication in the healthcare team.

On a personal level, this journey has taught me resilience and perseverance. There were moments of self-doubt and times when the workload seemed insurmountable, but I pushed through, knowing that I was working toward a noble and rewarding profession. I have also developed a greater sense of empathy and compassion for patients and their families. Witnessing their struggles and triumphs has deepened my commitment to providing holistic care.

As I prepare to take the NCLEX exam and embark on my first job as a nurse, I want to remind myself of the inspiration that led me to choose this career. I entered nursing to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, to be a source of comfort in times of vulnerability, and to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves. My inspiration comes from the belief that healthcare is a fundamental human right, and I am dedicated to upholding this principle throughout my career.

To my future self, I offer words of encouragement. Remember that you have been well-prepared through your education and training. Trust in your abilities and continue to learn and grow. Nursing is a lifelong journey of discovery, so embrace each experience with an open heart and mind. Never forget the impact you can have on patients and their families, and let that drive you to provide the best care possible.

I also offer words of caution. Nursing can be emotionally and physically demanding. Take care of yourself, both mentally and physically. Seek support and guidance when needed, and never hesitate to ask for help. Avoid burnout by finding balance in your life and nurturing your own well-being.

I hope that I have become the kind of nurse who is known for her empathy, competence, and dedication. I envision further growth and change in my future, as I continue to pursue advanced education and specialization in nursing. My goal is to be a lifelong learner, staying updated on the latest evidence-based practices and innovations in healthcare.

In closing, I look forward to the adventures and challenges that lie ahead in my nursing career. May you always carry with you the passion and purpose that brought you here today.

With heartfelt congratulations,

[Your Name]

Reflections Presentation

My inspiration for becoming a nurse is deeply rooted in my desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals and communities. Nursing, to me, represents the intersection of science and compassion. It’s the perfect blend of knowledge and empathy, and it offers the opportunity to provide care and support during some of the most vulnerable moments in a person’s life.

What Does My Inspiration Mean?

My inspiration means that I am driven by a genuine passion for healthcare and a commitment to improving the well-being of others. It signifies my belief in the power of nursing to advocate for patients, promote health, and address healthcare disparities. This inspiration is a constant reminder of the noble purpose behind my chosen career path.

One Challenging Concept

Throughout this course, one concept that challenged me was mastering the intricacies of pharmacology. Understanding drug classifications, mechanisms of action, side effects, and potential interactions required dedicated study and practice. However, I recognized the importance of this knowledge in providing safe and effective care to patients. It was a challenging but essential aspect of my education.

Greatest Lesson Learned

The greatest lesson I have learned is the significance of patient-centered care. This concept emphasizes the importance of treating each patient as a unique individual with specific needs, preferences, and values. It has taught me to listen actively, communicate effectively, and involve patients in their care decisions. Patient-centered care is not only a fundamental principle but also the cornerstone of building trust and therapeutic relationships.

How What I’ve Learned Will Help Me Succeed

What I’ve learned during this course will undoubtedly contribute to my success at Chamberlain and in my future nursing career. The knowledge and skills acquired will enable me to provide evidence-based, high-quality care. My ability to navigate complex healthcare systems, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and advocate for patients’ rights will be essential. Additionally, I will carry forward the core values of integrity, professionalism, and lifelong learning instilled during my education.

In conclusion, my journey to becoming a nurse has been transformative and inspiring. I am eager to apply the knowledge and values gained in this course to excel at Chamberlain and, ultimately, to make a positive impact on the lives of those I serve as a baccalaureate-prepared nurse.
