Prediabetes is one of the few diagnoses that can be corrected and avoided with careful lifestyle choices.

As for managed care organizations, early detection of illnesses and diseases benefits them because they save money by not having to pay for pharmacy, medical, dental, and vision claims. Suppose a patient has to take a prescription for a limited amount of time while working on lifestyle changes to reverse a secondary intervention diagnosis. In that case, MCOs still benefit since the medication was not prescribed indefinitely. MCOs prefer to keep their number of claims to a minimum.
